Biodiversity Researcher Settele Has Passed Away
On October 9, our long-standing jury member Josef Settele passed away.
From pioneering butterfly monitoring projects to his work with the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), he shaped biodiversity and conservation research far beyond Germany’s borders. Through his expertise, passion, and tireless commitment, he made a lasting contribution to the protection of nature and the preservation of biodiversity worldwide.
Our deepest sympathies go out to his family, friends, and loved ones. With Josef Settele’s passing, the world has lost an exceptional scientist, a visionary thinker, and a dedicated advocate for nature and environmental protection.
